Katherine
Hayes, a sophomore English major at Boston
College (Boston, MA), doesn't need booze to have
a good time. In fact, it's not allowed in her
room! "My experience was so positive that
I wanted to share it with incoming freshmen,"
Katie explains. That's exactly what she does in
her article, "Substance-Free
Housing" (page 50).
"Not
only did it allow me to have fun without any hangovers,
it also enabled me to meet people who were a lot
like me!"

Paolucci, author of "Problem
Solve Before You Panic!" is
a senior mass communications major at King's
College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
"I don't know if it was bad luck or
carelessness, but every problem I write
about in my article happened to me at one
point."
Jennifer
hopes the advice and personal insights of
her professors and friends will save at
least a few of you from the same mishaps. |

"I
used to wonder why I was always stuck working
while other people I went to school with
were relaxing and out having fun,"
says Robert M. Kalinowski. "Now
I realize how much a part-time job helped
me adjust to my internship at ABC and has
prepared me for life after graduation in
the 'real world.'"
Robert's
revelation became the subject of this issue's
article, "Part-Time
Work Leads to Career Success."
Don't miss his story, complete with career
advice from Peter Jennings, Diane Sawyer,
and lessons learned at Red Lobster on page

Bloom is always giving her little sister
advice on how to survive in college, and
she's thrilled to be sharing these health
tips with CBM's readers on page 66. A self-diagnosed
hypochondriac, she knows firsthand how to
"Beat
That Bug!" and reveals what students
need to do to take care of themselves. "The
first time you get sick away from home can
be scary," she says, "but learning
to live on your own is what makes college
exciting."
A graduate of Brown University, Providence,
RI, in 2000, Leah now works as a freelance
writer, and is currently getting an M.F.A.
in creative writing at Emerson College,
